Bohemian border bash camp 2022

An early start was made on Thursday morning in Munich. Already with my bags packed the day before, I set off to the train station. A large backpack with most of the bikepacking bags and my bike in another bag over my shoulder, because it is not always easy to get a bike ticket for the Deutsche Bahn

After 5 hours on a calm train ride, I first arrived at the Dresden train station. There I mounted all the bags to the bike and put the transport bags in the locker. What I didn’t knew was that these are only bookable for a maximum of 72 hours, which still causes me stress later.

Already on the train, I could see the rain hitting against the window. So I continued with the train to Bad Schandau. To my luck, the sun finally came out. Therefore, I could cycle relaxed the last 20 kilometers to the camp.

At the camp, we were welcomed nicely and received our goodies. We spent the night in a small, sweet hut. Rustic but fitting to the atmosphere of the camp. After all the bags were emptied and more and more people reached the camp, we spent the rest of the day in the expo area. Here the sponsors offered different activities in their booths. So the time passed quickly and dinner was already served. Here everyone got a portion in the restaurant and later at the campfire we had BBQ and a vegan alternative. 😉

The next day started with a big breakfast buffet and a good coffee. Already at 9 am the Blind Bash started. Here we went through several challenges to get the next route. These went from egg run to throwing tubes to pumping up tires. Everything was organized by the sponsors.

Midway through the course, the participants came together for lunch. Here we were supplied with numerous snacks and could strengthen us perfectly for the last Kilometers.

We continued through the forest to the last challenges until we arrived exhausted back at camp. Showered, dressed, we immediately went on to the expo area. Of course, the first isotonic beer can not be missed.

In the evening, a great band provided the right atmosphere. This was also necessary, because it started to rain and thunderstorm during the first song. Not exactly the perfect conditions. But people could enjoy the music from the booths. And the rain should fortunately not last long.

On the last full day, there were again some kilometers on the program. In different rides (50, 85, 115 and 166 kilometers) we again explored the beautiful area of Bohemian Switzerland. At midday, we came together again for lunch. From there we went on the same way back to the camp.

In the camp, we already noticed that the event was slowly coming to an end. The first people started to pack up their stuff. But the highlight was still to come. A spectacular fire show followed by a big campfire and live music.

And so the camp came to an end. On Sunday morning, I rode my bike to Dresden and spent several hours waiting for my train. Because, as already written, I had to empty the locker within 72 hours.

Thanks again to the organizers who invited me to this event to capture this on camera.
